BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac Released!

RIM today officially released the BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac.  This marks the end of the need for unofficial programs such as PocketMac and Missing Sync, which many people had problems with, particularly on newer models such as the Storm, Curve 8900, and Tour.  Not to mention that such programs may not only be glitchy, but also come at a price, where the official RIM product is free.

This is great news for BlackBerry/Mac owners, as there is now an officially-supported means of backing up and synchronizing your phone to the Mac, including contacts, calendar entries, tasks, notes, etc; you can also add/update applications, and eventually the phone’s OS itself.

Desktop Manager for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.5.5 or higher with iTunes 7.2+ installed; your BlackBerry device must be running BlackBerry OS version 4.2 or higher, which means all current and future production models will be supported.
